The Vienna-based architecture studio querkraft architects asked us to design an exhibition concept for the 2022 Lower Austria State Exhibition (Marchegg Palace). The core of our scenography concept was to have visitors move as explorers across the nature, history, the future, the economy, and the ecology of the State, while the exhibition served as the “base camp” for the exploration of the rooms and the surroundings of the castle. The various exhibits were selected and presented in such a way that they referenced the real surroundings. The goal of our concept was to create among visitors a sense of reverence and respect for nature, the history of the people of the Marchfeld and the surrounding region. The spatial staging was inspired by changing perspectives – a field could serve on the one hand as a battle ground and on the other hand as crop land.

We are happy to report that we won second place in this competition.
